What is Your Spiritual Eye? (And How Does It Help You?)

A talk from Swami Nityananda presented in HD audio and video

Dear Feel Love Now Community,

We just shared this video on YouTube, but wanted you to be able to have it on your Substack video player as well, in case you prefer that.

Having it on Substack makes it easy for you to see any other podcasts, videos, articles, or full meditation services that might be available in the Manifest Your Divinity Series by clicking here.

In this video, drawing from the sacred text of the Bhagavad-Gita, Swami Nityananda explores the divine compassion that resides within us, dispelling ignorance with the "luminous lamp of wisdom." This inner wisdom is not just a metaphor but a tangible presence within each individual, guiding us through life with clarity and insight.

By focusing on the spiritual eye and continuously choosing bliss over distraction, we can transform our daily experiences and deepen our connection with the divine. This journey of embracing our inner bliss is not just about personal enlightenment but also about contributing to a more compassionate and joyful world.

As we integrate these practices into our lives, we not only enhance our own well-being but also serve as beacons of light and love in our communities. The path to divine bliss is ever-present and accessible, inviting us to live fully in the moment, guided by the profound wisdom that dwells within our hearts.

Here’s one of our favorite quotes:

“So this one’s from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew, Chapter 6: ‘The light of the body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.’

I’m inviting you to connect with the spiritual eye. So at the outset today, I invited people to just notice: If you connect with the energy at the base of the spine—you might close your eyes because it can be easier to feel—and then feel the way your spine is supported. Your spine is connected to the core of the earth. Continual support is present with you and within you. When we have contact with that support, there is an effervescent light that lights up the whole spine from the base of the spine, connecting us to a space between and above the eye brows at the center of the forehead.

Just notice where your consciousness is drawn. There is a focal point—a focalization—almost like a magnetic area where your attention will be drawn between and above the eyebrows at the center of the forehead. This is the ‘single eye’—the spiritual eye. And so, Jesus names it in this teaching.

If you practice Kriya, you naturally and spontaneously along the way are connecting with this spiritual eye—the ‘single eye’—that lets your whole body be filled with light. And so right now, just invite yourself to feel. What does it feel like when I connect with that eye and let my eye be single. And I let my whole body be filled with light.”

If you have heard this teaching before, we invite you — as Swami so often invites us — to hear it as if you are hearing it for the first time. Often we receive these teachings right when we need them.

In loving service,
The Karma Yoga Team at AYM
